I have been aware of health care insurance providers motivating their clients to purchase health insurance plans that include mail order drugs. Will not the net effect of this be to reduce the number of pharmacies and pharmacists in our sparsely populated state? I have always believed my pharmacist to be a “first line” of prevention in health care because they are often times more accessible than the doctors.
There can be no doubt pharmacists are a vital link in the health care chain. Are they to be replaced by the mailman? That is a sobering thought. Lastly, if we no longer need pharmacists why are we subsidizing a college of pharmacology at UW???
