Group readies Festival of Trees in Casper

Priscilla Dowse is the longtime chief executive officer of Special Olympics Wyoming. The group’s fund- and awareness-raising event, the 29th annual Festival of Trees, signals the sparkling beginning to Casper’s holiday season. Folks who enjoy dressing up for the holidays will do so, but formal dress is not mandatory. Tickets are available for the Tuesday event, and we thought we’d check in.

What’s the importance of the event to your organization? We’re a nonprofit that relies on the generous benefits of the community. So this does two things, it raises those funds that we need to continue to support our program and also it just raises awareness. It’s an opportunity for us to showcase the abilities of our athletes outside the sports arena, it allows us to celebrate the holidays with our community and it wraps up the year in style for us.
